As you may know, if you follow my work, RED is one of my favorite colors. If you look closely, you'll almost always find a touch of red somewhere in my paintings. So when this Illustration Friday topic showed up yesterday....I was beside myself with ideas and this is the first of 3 or maybe even 4! (sold)
Ok, today I am going to share something personal. Are you ready? This particular painting was painted in my pajamas in my bed actually. So, two things here 1. If you are waiting for your brilliant studio to be built before you paint....don't. Don't get me wrong, keep dreaming about your studio but START painting. When I finally did pick up the paint brush again, 4 years ago now, I laid a big blue tarp on top of my bed and started painting. Now I don't even put the tarp down. I just bring the paints right into the bed and so far, no paint has ever made it into the bed, at least that I know of :) 2. You know your life is good when you go to work in your pajamas. So, today I am grateful that I can paint in my pajamas and I am officially adding a new category to my blog "pajama paintings"!
It has been so cold here in LA, laughable to many of you I know, but for LA standards it has been FREEZING. And our heater has not been working, so it's been really FREEZING. And we live in a canyon, even more FREEZING. Pajamas and work in a bed with a truly fantastic down comforter has been mighty appealing, and the prime work location this week.
